Programme Emphases & Course Descriptions

                                  


Emphasis in Biblical Studies is designed to provide participants with beginning skills in the understanding and application of the Bible. Persons pursuing this emphasis will gain a basic knowledge of biblical foundations, which will allow for biblical analysis, interpretation and accuracy.


                                   


Emphasis in Christian Education is designed to provide participant with beginning skills to assist with the Christian Education work of the church. Persons pursuing this emphasis will gain an appreciation and basic skills in educating Christians. This will allow for greater effectiveness in the preparation and delivery of Christian material.  

                                           

Emphasis in Ministry to Youth is designed to provide participant with beginning skills in helping the church minister meet the needs of youth. Persons pursuing this emphasis will gain an appreciation and basic skills in ministering to youth. This will allow for greater effectiveness in the preparation and delivery to youth.     
           
                                           

 
Emphasis in Lay Counseling Ministry is designed to provide participant with beginnings skills in helping the church assist those who are in distress. Persons pursuing this emphasis will gain an appreciation and basic skills in helping person in destress, alter ministry and church social/community support. This will allow for greater effectiveness in the preparation and delivery to social support.

                                          


Emphasis in Evangelism is designed to provide participant with beginning skills in the Biblical approach to evangelism to assist the church with outreach activities. Persons pursuing this emphasis will gain an appreciation and basic skills in evangelism. This will allow for greater effectiveness in the preparation and delivery of the Gospel.

Staying Connected


The West Indies School of Theology North-Central Extension Division has embarked upon an awareness initiative directed at (re)connecting and introducing persons to the Certificate Program.

Opportunity 1
Continued Education
A person graduating with the Certificate in Practical Ministry in a specific emphasis can return to pursue additional emphases. Participants accessing this opportunity can transfer eleven (11) credits [Credits transferable relate to courses of B+ and above]. Persons also have the ability to improve grades while pursuing the additional programs. Persons obtaining full credit transfer will attend one (1) course per trimester and is required to complete a practicum for the specific program emphasis. Applicants will receive a Two Hundred Dollar ($200.00) Rebate on Registration.
Opportunity 2
Pass-it-on Student Drive
Graduates of the Certificate Program can assist the institution with the promotional drive:  pass-it-on student drive. It is our belief that you would have gained from your exposure to the program and see it as a valuable asset to the local church; and wanting others to have access to the same opportunities. Once you have shared our information, the referral and registration of an applicant, you will receive a Two Hundred Dollar ($200.00) commission. The referral must be confirmed by the applicant. A graduate can recruit up to three (3) applicants in the academic year. 

Opportunity 3
Support-Student Initiative
A person graduating with the Certificate in Practical Ministry can assist a student in meeting their financial obligations for the completion of their course of study. Students accessing this support, allows trimester performance updates to be released, unless, otherwise stated by contributor.
